fate

What we want isn't always what we get but what we get is always what we need.

But perhaps you hate a thing and it is good for you; and perhaps you love a thing and it is bad for you. And Allah Knows, while you know not. 2:216

Rasulullah s.a.w. said, "It is amazing, the affairs of the mu'min (the believer). Verily everything is good for him. And this happens to no one except for mu'mins. If something good happens to him, he thanks Allah and it would be good for him. And if hardship befalls him, and he is patient, it would be good for him too."

and...

who says we can't change fate? there are 2 types of fate, the one that Allah has set for us which can never be changed like the day of resurrection and the one that can be changed with du'a (praying to Allah) + effort + tawakkal (reliance on Allah) like job opportunity, exam results etc. for example, say you want a good man to be your husband. it is mentioned in the Quran, good men are for good women and the opposite. so...you can put some effort to improve yourself and in finding your Mr. Right/Mrs. Perfect the appropriate way and pray to Allah for a good life partner then tawakkal, insya-Allah your wish will be granted. but always..always remember what Rasulullah said about mu'min above.

Indeed, Allah will not change the condition of a people until they change what is with themselves. 13:11
